Rudyard Lake

A visit to Rudyard Lake was the inspiration for a couple to name their son Rudyard - Rudyard Kipling. The North Staffs Railway ran along the Eastern shores of Rudyard Lake and a miniature railway now runs along this track to approximately its halfway point.

Rudyard Lake provides some of the most dramatic scenery to be found in the Staffordshire Moorlands. Built as a reservoir in 1797 and covering about 168 acres, it attracts over 100,000 visitors each year.
