Fishing along the Selby Canal

The Selby Canal is a prolific fishery with good stocks of roach, bream, chub, perch and gudgeon. Tench and carp are also present.

Angling on this canal is leased to the following angling clubs:

  • Paperhouse Bridge to Brayton Bridge - Selby District Angling Association
  • Brayton Bridge to Selby Basin - Wheatsheaf Angling Club

Information on day tickets can be obtained from the angling shops in Selby or by talking to the club bailiffs on the bank. Access to the different lengths is via the many bridges crossing the navigation, with car parking provided within Selby, at Brayton Bridge and Burn Bridge. Fishing is from the towpath side only. There is no closed season presently in operation on this canal.

There is also coarse fishing available at the nearby Barlow Common Nature Reserve.

Unfortunately we don’t currently have any information on fishing and fisheries.
