Walking along the Selby Canal

Apart from walking the towpath alongside the canal, you could also try one of these walks on or nearby the canal:

  • Selby Horseshoe Walk (9 miles): starting at Selby Abbey and taking you along

the Selby Canal towpath.

  • The Selby and York Cycle Path (15 miles): this cycleway is also suitable for walkers and wheelchair users. There is a bridleway between Moor Lane, Naburn and Riccall.
  • Brayton Barff has loads of footpaths to follow along which you can see lots of birdlife in particular, as well as a stunning view of the Vale of York.
