05 May 2008 until further notice

Restriction: Opposite bank to Newton Farm Footbridge, upstream of Doncaster Lock

Associated Regional Office: BW Yorkshire

A temporary piled wharf and craft mooring points will be installed to the South side of the navigation in the Newton Farm bridge area. This is to allow a large quantity of stone to be brought to this site for remediation and sealing work from Cadeby Quarry. A large increase in commercial traffic on this length will be experienced during this period, using Hargreaves tugs and coal pans. Sprotbrough lock will be used heavily and other craft may experience short delays due to the increased volume of traffic. The navigation will be reduced in width at the temporary wharf and at point where craft are moored waiting to load and offload. The tugs will be turning in the river at both sites preparing to move the coal pans in the opposite direction.

Durations is approximately 20 weeks and craft using this length should anticipate a large increase in commercial traffic, tugs turning and manoeuvring at loading and unloading points and moored craft reducing the available width on the navigation. Particular care should be taken at Newton Farm bridge as craft will hve to pass closer to where the river course leaves the navigation under the bridge.
