Advice: Bernard Road Bridge

Associated Regional Office: BW Yorkshire

The sides of the road bridge and the duct bays for services are to be replaced as inadequate for modern traffic loads. The main central section of the bridge is to be retained.
Temporary scaffolding will be erected overhead to support the services and the construction of the replacement sides to the bridge, the published minimum headroom for the canal will be maintained throughout the works. On completion the headroom will be restored to that currently available.
Craft should approach slowly and be prepared to stop whilst a safe route is cleared through the bridge. Short Delays of up to 20 minutes may be required whilst operation is completed and made safe for craft to pass, particularly whilst scaffolding is erected and removed.
The works are expected to take place for four months but will remain in force until completed
