Wildlife along the Stewartby Lake
The Country Park stretches over 318 acres, within which the wetland reserve is home to much interesting and rare wildlife, and especially interesting for bird lovers. From the paths, boardwalks and bird hides especially around May time, you may spot bitterns, and the rather shy waders like lapwings, golden plovers and redshanks. Curlews and whimbrels are also at home here – listen out for their unusual calls. In fact, the early Summer is an excellent time to hear all manner of calls produced by the birdlife here.
A Peregrine Falcon has recently been spotted in the reserve. Also look out for hares and other animals.
