Fishing along the Stockton Reservoir
This small reservoir has 66 pegs and is an extremely attractive fishery with reed beds and island features to fish towards.
The pool is located immediately behind the Blue Lias public house on Stockton Road, Long Itchington where there are toilets and of course refreshments. The reservoir is no longer operational and so water levels remain constant.
All of the pegs are large timber platforms with rod rest and umbrella holders fitted. A wide stone footpath surrounds the fishery and wellington boots are therefore not required. There are three disabled pegs nearest to the access from the large car park and the vehicle blocking post can be removed by prior arrangement with Brian at the Blue Lias if disabled anglers wish to park their vehicles directly behind their peg.
This is a heavily stocked mixed fishery with most of the carp in the 3lbs to 8lbs range with a good number of doubles up to 18lbs or so. There are also huge numbers of tench, crucian carp, chub, rudd and roach. The lake is shallow with depths averaging 5 feet with a maximum depth of 7 feet. The venue lends itself to pole, waggler and feeder fishing and in the last couple of seasons there has been an increase in the use of boilies which tend to pick out the larger specimens. If you are fishing on the pegs between 2 and 25 it is always worth trying immediately to the side of your platform because a lot of fish hide up under the boardwalk and platforms. This is exciting “hit and hold” fishing.
