Boating along the Stratford-upon-Avon Canal
The canal offers enjoyable cruising throughout, and flights of locks such as Lapworth can be worked quickly by an experienced crew, or taken more sedately by novices. The canal can be busy in summer, so don't plan too ambitious a schedule.
The northern section, from Kingswood to Kings Norton, is a more scenic alternative to the Grand Union for boaters heading from the south-east into Birmingham. On the southern section, don't miss the Edstone and Wootton Wawen aqueducts - a memorable experience for any tillerman.
