Titford Canal
Climbing to the highest point on Birmingham's canal network, the Titford Canal is a dead-end canal through industrial scenery that nonetheless has its own particular charm, making it a favourite of many waterway enthusiasts.
The locks of 'The Crow' carry the Titford Canal up from the Birmingham Canal Old Main Line to Titford Pools, a wide expanse of water underneath the roar of the M5 elevated motorway. With the end of commercial traffic, few boats made the effort to climb to the summit of the canal. But the recent renovation of the Titford Pumphouse, which once maintained the water level at this high point, and the creation of permanent moorings alongside have made the canal a more popular destination.
