Advice: Saltersford Tunnel - timed passage

Timed passage through the Saltersford Tunnel until further notice, as follows:-

Northbound (Saltersford Tunnel to Preston Brook) - Entry on the hour until 20 minutes past the hour.

Southbound (Saltersford Tunnel to Barnton) - Entry 30 minutes past the hour until 10 minutes to the hour.

The Tunnel will open for passage daily 8.00am - 5.00pm. To be guaranteed a passage, craft must arrive by 3.00pm.

Last craft in the Tunnel at 4.15pm IF the Tunnel is free both ways.

SUMMER OPENING HOURS:

From Tuesday 1st June to Sunday 5th September 2010.

The Tunnel will open for passage daily 8.00am - 6.00pm. To be guaranteed a passage, craft must arrive by 4.00pm.

Last craft in the Tunnel at 5.15pm IF the Tunnel is free both ways.

From Monday 2nd November 2009 until further notice - BY APPOINTMENT ONLY - Tel 01782 785703 giving AT LEAST 48 HOURS NOTICE and only between these times:

Mondays & Wednesdays - 8.30am to 12pm (last passage 11.15am)
Fridays - 11.30am to 3.00pm (last passage 2.15pm)
Saturdays - 8.30am - 12.30pm (last passage 11.45am)

Closed Tuesdays, Thursdays, Sundays and Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day

Advice: Anderton Boat Lift Opening Schedule 2009

From 20th April 2009, the maintenance morning for the Boat Lift will change to Thursdays. The Lift will be closed to private traffic until 11.00 a.m. on Thursdays from that date.

The lift will open at 8.30 a.m. on Wednesdays from that date. There is no change to the Trip Boat schedule or Operations Centre opening times.

Restriction: Lock 63 Trent and Mersey Canal

Associated Regional Office: Manchester & Pennine Waterways

To enable emergency grouting and stabilisation to be carried out on the offside Lock 63 it is necessary to close it to navigation. The towpath side lock will remain open but it is restricted to boats of a maximum width of 6'10".

The works are being procured to allow the lock to be re-opened by April. Specific dates will be published as soon as they are available.
