Walsall Branch Canal
From Birchills Junction to Walsall Junction the Walsall Branch Canal runs for 0.9 miles through 8 locks, all individually listed structures. Though short, it passes a wealth of canal history including a Boater's Mission and a characteristic Birmingham Canal Navigation toll house.
The tollhouse by the former mission is one of the last of its type. The flagstone in the mission wall bears the familiar name of Cadbury; the Chocolate making dynasty has a history of philanthropy much of which was directed to boaters and their families.
