Welsh Harp (Brent) Reservoir

Boats on Welsh Harp (Brent) Reservoir, London

The 'Welsh Harp' or Brent Reservoir is designated both a Site of Special Scientific Interest and a Site of Metropolitan Importance and is an important breeding site for wildfowl. It covers about 51 hectares and today is partially used for watersports, whilst maintaining the majority to allow nature to take its course.

The area became a most fashionable centre for angling, birdwatching and its local inn, from the middle of the 19th Century. In terms of wildlife, the importance of this site was recorded as far back as 1866 in the "Birds of Middlesex" written by James Harting.
