Cycling along the Worcester & Birmingham Canal

The following schedule shows which lengths of towing path are open to cyclists. Please cycle with great care and courtesy to others, observing the Waterways Code for Cyclists. You must display a valid British Waterways cycling permit on your cycle at all times, which can be downloaded free of charge.

  • The stretch from The Commandery in [Worcester is now open up to Bridge 24A, Tibberton. This stretch is now part of the Sustrans National Route. The stretch above Bridge 24A, Kings Norton, is not officially open to cyclists.
  • The Commandery to Worcester Bilford Road (3.2 km): Cycling permitted. Take extra care: towpath may be uneven. Do not speed.
  • Bilford Road to Kings Norton (Bridge 72) (35.6 km): No cycling permitted.
  • Kings Norton (Bridge 72) to Birmingham (Bridge 87) (8 km): Cycling permitted. Take extra care: towpath may be uneven. Do not speed.
  • Birmingham (Bridge 87 to Granville Street) (1km): No cycling permitted within central Birmingham.

Cycling routes

Unfortunately we don’t currently have any information on cycling routes along the Worcester & Birmingham Canal.
