Parkhead canal festival
26 September 2008 – 28 September 2008
Parkhead Locks
Parkhead Junction
Worcestershire
From Friday 26 to Sunday 28 September the Parkhead festival comes to the Dudley No 1 canal and the Dudley No2 Canal, where around 100 boats including working boats are expected to turn up.
Throughout the weekend there will be a wide range of activities to suit everyone, such as horseboat demonstrations up and down the locks and narrowboat trips to Merry Hill waterfront. There will also be Dudley Tunnel trips taking place on Saturday and Sunday, the prefect way to explore this historic waterway.
Throughout the festival traders will be situated in the pumphouse offering you a fine selection of boating products, as well as arts and crafts if you’re after a home-made gift. Around the site visitors will have the chance to view the many vintage vehicles, steam engines, stationary engines and model boats on display.
Parkhead canal festival promises to be a weekend that the whole family will enjoy, and children especially are certain to love the Great Dudley Duck Race. With all this entertainment on offer you’re sure to work up quite an appetite. So why not take advantage of the on-site catering and then relax in the beer tent?
The festival is open 10am – 5pm and admission is free. For more information, please contact Steve Bingham on ste.bingham@btinternet.com.
