The Ellen MacArthur Trust Skandia Round Britain Voyage of Discovery mirrors Ellen MacArthur’s first solo round Britain voyage in her 21ft yacht, Iduna in 1995.

Starting from Cowes on 3 May, 85 young people are sailing the 48 foot Scarlet Oyster the 2000 nautical miles around Britain on a four month voyage stopping at 17 ports around Great Britain and will be transiting through the Caledonian Canal from east to west from 12 to 19 July.

Throughout the course of the Voyage the Trust is aiming to raise £100,000. Members of the public can ‘buy a mile’ for a donation of £10 to show their support. A fundraising day will also be held at Inverness Marina on Saturday 11 July with activities for all the family and music from the Caledonian Canal Ceilidh Trail.

Dame Ellen MacArthur will also be giving a series of public talks at venues across Britain in conjunction with the Voyage. A talk will be held in Inverness at the Caledonian Thistle Football Club on 10 July.
