Boat Trips

It would be impossible to take a trip to the Anderton Boat LIft and not have a go in the trip boat.

People flock to the Anderton Boat Lift to experience the unique boat lift. Boat trips are available six times a day, where you can have a cruise along the River Weaver and then go up in the lift, or just choose to have a go on the lift.

Christened Edwin Clark, the trip boat is named after the man who designed the original structure and is a converted Leeds & Liverpool Canal maintenance craft.

If you take one of the boat trips, the boat masters are likely to be Tom and Neil, two men who can answer any question about the lift and its history and improvements. The 30 minutes trip up the lift is helped by a constant commentary from the two fountains of knowledge, making the trip more informative and interesting. Each part is accompanied with an explanation of what is happening and why, such as the fact that you are travelling up at 9ft per minute, and is often followed by some funny story or other from the two men's experiences from the trips.

A ticket for a trip up the lift or along the river also includes access to the grounds, Weight Maze, play area and exhibition area.

Edwin Clark has access for disabled passengers, with an accessible lift to take passengers with disabilities on and off the boat.

Bookings can be made for a minimum of 12 people.
