Diglis Locks, 16 October

Diglis Locks on the River Severn are being drained so engineers can carry out a detailed inspection of the locks, walls and paddle culverts.

Come and join British Waterways on Sunday 16 October for a unique opportunity to walk along the bottom of a drained river.

British Waterways’ heritage adviser and engineering project managers will lead tours inside and around the works, answering your questions about the project.

The team will also be able to tell you about how we care for and maintain the historic lock structures and the local area.

Time: 11am –4pm. Guided walk and talk around the site. Pre booking not required.
Location: British Waterways/May Gurney Site Office, Navigation Road, Worcester, WR5 3DE

Please note, this open day has been reduced from two days, due to a delay in the works. British Waterways would like to apologise for any inconvenience this may cause in making arrangements to visit the site.

British Waterways’ Canal Open Days 2011/12 are sponsored by May Gurney. Find out more about the company by visiting www.maygurney.co.uk/
