Come and meet the British Waterways team working on the Bottom Lock on the Hertford Union Canal this winter. As part of our annual works programme we are replacing both the top and bottom sets of gates at this lock on the doorstep of the Olympic site.

On Saturday 4th February we will be able to show you how we remove the old gates from the lock chamber through a series of gate lifts, timed to allow you to view them. We will also be able to tell you about the works happening this winter and you will have the chance to find out more about the heritage of the canals and the infrastructure that keeps them working.
Time: Guided walks including viewing the lock gate lifts, will take place at 10.30am, 11.30am, 12.30pm and 1.30pm. Each walk will last approximately 45 minutes
