Lock 60 at Crofton, 10 December

Come and meet the British Waterways team working on locks 55, 58, 59 and 60 on the Kennet & Avon Canal near Crofton and Wooten Rivers this winter works season.

Our open day will be based at Lock 60, just below the pumping station. Members of the works team will guide visitors around the lock explaining the work they are doing there and along the canal. During the day the gates will be being craned out of the lock and the new gates, hand-made in British Waterways’ workshop, will be on-site for people to look at.
Each walk will last approximately 45 minutes.

The Crofton Pumping Station will also be open. The Kennet & Avon Canal Trust’s volunteers, who run the station, will be on-hand to show visitors round this heritage site. The café and shop will also be open selling delicious tea and cake among other delights. Toilets are available at the Pumping Station.
