K&A 200
K&A 200
Join us in celebrating the bicentenary of the Kennet & Avon Canal in 2010.
Forming one of the most picturesque stretches of canal in the inland waterway network, this historic landmark is a treasured feature of the rolling landscape of Wiltshire and Berkshire.
Completed in 1810 to link the Kennet and Avon navigations, the canal forms a direct link between the South West and the capital. The waterway passes through some of the country’s most popular destinations including, Bath, Bristol and Devizes, and takes in much of the spectacular scenery in between.
Attractions, activity, character and charm surround this waterspace, meaning it’s not just the canal’s heritage but also its continually developing role in the communities through which it passes that's well worth celebrating in this, its bicentenary year.
