Badgers

Badgers are really easy to identify – they have grey bodies, dark legs and a white head with a dark stripe over each eye on their small, black heads. They also have short legs and very short tails.

Did you know?

  • Badgers have poor eyesight as they spend much of their time underground. Due to their poor eyesight, they have excellent hearing and sense of smell;
  • Setts, the name for a badger's home, are found in many different places, including woods, hedgerows and open fields;
  • They usually eat earthworms;
  • Badgers are one of the largest wild animals in Britain. Adult badgers generally measure about 69-71cm in length;
  • Badgers are excellent diggers.
