Frog
Frog
Frogs are generally green, brown or yellow, but some have been known to be pink or even orange! They have smooth skin and are often covered with dark blotches.
Frogs are great swimmers as they have sturdy bodies, strong back legs and webbed toes. Their eyes and nose are on the tops of their heads so they can breathe and see while in the water.
Did you know?
- Frogs don’t need to drink water to survive – they can absorb it through their skin;
- They have strong back legs so that they can jump – some types of frog can even jump 20 times the length of their own body in a single leap!
- Some frogs live in trees and have sticky pads on the fingers and toes so that they can cling to trees and climb;
- Frogs can breathe through their skin and lungs;
- To fight off enemies, different species of frog do different things. Some have brightly coloured bodies to warn other creatures that they taste bad and are poisonous whilst others puff themselves up to look too big to swallow.
