Toad

Toads are not generally the most glamorous of creatures; they are quite plump and have rough skin which appears to be covered in warts.

They have large bumps behind their ears which contain a poison to protect them.

Did you know?

  • A group of toads is known as a knot;
  • Natterjack toads are the noisiest amphibians in Europe;
  • Two types of toad are found in Britain – the Natterjack Toad and the Common Toad;
  • One of the most famous toads is ‘Toad of Toad Hall’, from the popular book The Wind in the Willows by Kenneth Grahame;
  • Toads generally eat bugs and worms.
