Justine Lee, The Waterways Trust
Justine Lee, The Waterways Trust
Justine Lee is Communications Manager at The Waterways Trust.
She is married and has one child. Read on to find out what she likes and dislikes about her role with The Waterways Trust, and why she wrote to Jim'll Fix It.
• Which 5 words best describe you?
Determined, enthusiastic, organised, adventurous, caring
• What one thing would you take with you to a desert island?
Can I take my family? If not then it would have to be paper & pencil, ideas would flourish during all that peace and quiet.
• What’s the best thing about your job?
Its sheer variety, no day is ever the same. Today for example I’m planning the launch of our new activity centre in Falkirk, Action Outdoors, finalising arrangements for the ladies who worked on the waterways during the war to meet with the Waterways Minister and drafting the brochure for the 2009 Waterways Renaissance Awards.
• Is there any part of your job that you don’t enjoy?
Filing and basic admin, why don’t those envelopes fill themselves!
• What did you want to be when you ‘grew up’?
The first British woman astronaut – oh yes, I like to aim high! Even wrote to Jim’ll Fix It asking to go to NASA.
• What is the last book you read/film you saw?
Currently reading a book by Jonathan Coe, can’t remember the title, but I love any of his books, the Rotters Club and Full Circle were just fab.
• What’s the best advice you’ve ever been given?
You can do it – not necessarily advice but a firm belief that you can achieve anything if you put your mind to it.
• What makes you smile?
My little boy who is 20 months old. A fantastic age, trying to do new things and say new words every day.
• Where would you most like to be right now?
Skiing – don’t care where just as long as there are mountains with there lots of fresh snow and no queues at the ski lifts!
• Tell us a joke
