The Falkirk Wheel, Falkirk

Taking a boat trip at this truly unique attraction has to be one of 2008’s must-have experiences. A specially designed boat first sails from the Forth & Clyde Canal into the bottom part of The Wheel, where it is then gracefully lifted 35m into the air to join the Union Canal above. The journey takes around 15 minutes, giving you plenty of time to enjoy the amazing scenery. After cruising along the Union Canal, the boat returns for its gentle descent back into the basin. After the spectacular trip, simply stroll around the beautiful grounds or head to the visitor centre and outdoor play area, both completely free.
