Waterways Renaissance Awards 2008

25th Mar 2008

British Waterways is toasting successes having won in three categories at this year’s Waterways Renaissance Awards as well as picking up an Outstanding Achievement Award for its heritage led restoration work at Stourport Basins.

In addition to the BW projects achieving top spot in the Design and Construction, Partnership and Historic Environment categories, BW schemes were either runner up or commended in a further eight instances.

Robin Evans says: "I was very proud to be representing British Waterways at the awards along with a number of other colleagues from the teams involved in the winning projects. I know what fantastic regeneration, environmental and community work we do at BW so I was delighted that this was recognised publicly."

West Midlands general manager Tony Harvey, who attended the awards with other BW colleagues says: "I am absolutely thrilled for the West Midlands team that our work in Stourport has been recognised by these awards. It’s a testament to all the effort and enthusiasm involved in establishing a successful partnership with local authorities, the Regional Development Agency and local communities.

"The project is not just bricks and mortar. As well as the physical regeneration there have been art projects and community events that people have felt really involved in. We have achieved a truly wide-ranging set of positive outcomes."
