Kate Humble visits Tewkesbury Marina

1st Apr 2008

Television presenter, Kate Humble, and a BBC film crew of 4 visited Tewkesbury Marina on Wednesday 26 March to make part of a BBC programme called 'Underwater Britain' a scientific review of the causes of the July 2007 floods.

Kate and the BBC team spent the morning filming on the river from Tewkesbury Marina's two work boats Chug and Chugger at the confluence of the Severn and Avon and at Mythe Hook on the River Severn.

Adrian Bidwell, Tewkesbury Marina manager said: "It was a delight to host and skipper for Kate Humble and the BBC team. The BBC is producing an important scientific documentary about the causes of the tragic July 2007 floods which may better inform the assessment and management of flood risk locally.

Andy Walker and Mike Collings enjoyed the day skippering for the BBC who now plan to complete filming at Bala in North Wales and at Hull."

Tewkesbury Marina is continuing to repair the damage following the floods in July 2007 and is proud that the investment in 'The Quarter' new moorings last year helped ensure that no customer boats have been lost or damaged.
