Drinking water warning in Northampton, Daventry and West of Daventry

Anglian Water customers in the Northampton, Daventry and west of Daventry areas are advised to boil drinking water before use.
Only once drinking water has been boiled and allowed to cool should it be used for drinking, preparing food or cleaning teeth. This advice also applies to pets.
Tap water remains quite safe for washing, bathing and toilet flushing. Alternative water supplies are currently being investigated for the affected areas.
Anglian Water apologises for the inconvenience this will cause, but stresses the health and safety of its customers comes first. They are working with local authorities and Health Protection Unit to provide advice. Customers with worries about their health should contact their GP or call NHS Direct on 0845 4647.
British Waterways are currently waiting for confirmation from Anglian Water regarding boaters dealing with contaminated water in their water tanks.

Oxford Canal (North): Hillmorton Yard, Hillmorton Flight of Locks - Bottom on flight;
Oxford Canal (South): Napton Bottom Lock
Grand Union Canal (North): Calcutt Lock on Grand Union Canal main line towards Leamington Spa - just north of Napton Junction;
Grand Union Canal (South): Milton Keynes Marina;
Grand Union Canal Leicester Line: Yelvertoft
