Enjoy the Tees Valley by bike

25th Jun 2003

Sustrans, the sustainable transport charity, together with the five Tees Valley local authorities have just launched a new programme of over 30 guided cycle rides for all the family.

The rides, taking place in locations all around the Tees Valley until October 2003, are free, and many are especially suitable for families. Most of the rides last for between 2 and 3 hours long with a stop for a break or lunch, and vary in difficulty from flat to those with some steep climbs for the fitter cyclist. Rides will be led by a trained ride leader accompanied by a team of trained support riders.

Owen Wilson, Sustrans Tees Valley Area manager, said: "These events are for people who wish to enjoy a few hours of gentle cycling in good company. Come along and be surprised at what you can discover away from our busy roads, and how invigorating a short cycle ride can be for mind and body!"

The Tees Valley Cycling Events Programme has been produced through a partnership between Sustrans, Middlesbrough Environment City, Stockton, Hartlepool, Darlington and Redcar & Cleveland Borough Councils.
