New website for Canal Trust
17th Jun 2009
The Herefordshire and Gloucestershire Canal Trust has launched a new website to improve the availability of information about both the Herefordshire & Gloucestershire Canal and the work of the Herefordshire and Gloucestershire Canal Trust.
In introducing the website H&G Canal Trust Chairman Janet Moult said:
"The site reflects the exciting opportunities now facing the Canal Trust. It shows the strides we have made over the last few years including canal restoration and development work at Aylestone Park and Yarkhill, in Herefordshire, and our volunteers are close to completing major structural work on the Ell Brook Aqueduct in Gloucestershire. Meanwhile the new Over Canal Basin and The Wharf House, just outside Gloucester, have progressed dramatically. We have also been able to buy Llanthony Lock and Cottages, our gateway to the national inland waterways network at Gloucester, and also own a number of ex-British Waterways heritage narrowboats - this information and lots more is readily available on the website."
The launch of the website coincides with the publication of the 100th edition of the H&G Canal Trust’s quarterly magazine The Wharfinger. Volunteer Editor Cliff Penny said:
"The new website does not replace our magazine which is going from strength to strength - this edition includes contributions from 24 different photographers and writers - which results in something for everyone. The 40 page plus publication is printed in full colour throughout and includes news and articles about the H&G Canal and the H&G Canal Trust - past, present and future and is widely distributed to members, supporters and influential bodies and individuals both locally and nationally. Whilst it is free to Canal Trust members copies are available from The Wharf House at Gloucester for £1 or by post for £1.50 (inc P&P) from H&G CT, 6 Castle Street, Hereford, HR1 2NL."
