Poddle raises over £13,500
This year’s Wey & Arun Canal Trust annual sponsored walk, "The Poddle," was held on Sunday 14th June 2009 and covered 10 miles, visiting the picturesque setting of Wiggonholt, near Pulborough, Sussex.
The idea for this year’s route was in recognition of the part played by the Wiggonholt Association in providing half the funds needed for the Trust’s 50-seater electric trip boat named Wiggonholt, launched in April 2009.
Preliminary estimates are that this year’s walk raised more than £13,500. This amount will contribute to the cost of new lock gates for Devils Hole Lock in Loxwood, Sussex.
