Dewsbury consultation moves into town

21st Aug 2009

There is still time for Dewsbury residents to have their say about the Dewsbury Destination Delivery plan.

The plan is now going on display in a vacant shop at 3 Westgate in Dewsbury town centre, so people can comment and give feedback.

The plan, which is being put together by British Waterways Yorkshire and Kirklees Council, will focus on the waterways and aims to bring improvements and benefits to local people and visitors to the area.

Graham Ramsden, regeneration manager for BW Yorkshire, said: “We are looking to get feedback and comments from local people regarding the Destination Delivery Plan, so being able to take a shop in town is great as it means people will be able to see the plan when they are doing their shopping and find out more.”

The Destination Delivery Plan looks at a number of options for the waterways including improvements to the towpath, increased interpretation, development of Saville Town Wharf, litter and grafitti removal strategy, installation of an arts trail, and the possible resurrection of a trip boat service.

The plan will be on display until Wednesday 2 September and comments should be forwarded to Graham Ramsden on 0113 281 6893.
