Angel Canal Festival takes to Islington waterside
On Sunday 5 September, City Road Basin in Islington host the 24th Angel Canal Festival.
The Festival, which takes place from 11am until 5pm. This is the 24th year this free event will be bringing boat trips, stalls, live music, dance, food, drink and much more to the Regent’s Canal in north London.
The local volunteers who run the day are looking forward to another memorable festival. The 2010 event will see a stilt-walking angel, a mobile belfry – offering people the chance to try their hand at bell ringing, and entertainments in the new City Road Plaza area added to the busy programme.
Real community event
Beryl Windsor, organiser said: “We are looking forward to another action-packed day at City Road Basin for Angel Canal Festival. The festival is a real community event with people of all ages coming together to celebrate the waterway for a day. With children’s activities, stalls, music and much more we hope there’s something for everyone on the site.”
The event would not be possible with out the hard work of committed local volunteers. An organising group meet throughout the year to plan the day and more than 50 local people volunteer their time at the event itself. With tasks from handing out programmes to litter picking to be completed the organising team are always looking for more people to get involved.
