Meet Father Christmas at the National Waterways Museum

14th Nov 2011

The National Waterways Museum at Ellesmere Port has announced details of its Santa Cruises taking place in December.

Following a boat trip along the Shropshire Union Canal, families will get the chance to visit Santa’s workshop for stories, presents and refreshments.

Museum marketing manager Oliver Briscoe said: “This year families will be able to visit Santa’s enchanting workshop in the museum and hear all about his work. The Santa Cruises are always one of the highlights of the museum calendar and we’re all looking forwards to welcoming lots of happy families to the museum this December. Give us a call or drop in to make sure you book your tickets.”

Cruises will run three times a day on 17, 18, 21, 22, 23 and 24 December at 11am, 12.45pm and 2.30pm. Visit www.nwm.org.uk or call 0151 355 5017 to check times and to book tickets. Advance booking is essential.

Open all winter

However, if Christmas isn’t your thing there are still plenty of reasons to visit the museum. For the first time the National Waterways Museum will be staying open all week through the winter months – the museum previously only opened at weekends from November to March.

Oliver explains: “We’ve responded to a real demand from our visitors to stay open throughout winter weekdays and we’re committing to opening the main exhibition spaces everyday – and of course if the weather is on our side we’ll open the whole site. Winter can be a great time to visit the museum for a relaxed and unhurried day out.”
