Discover Waterscape.com at the Crick Boat Show
29th May 2003
Visitors to Stand Q39 of the 24-26 May Crick Boat Show will be able to discover all there is to know about Waterscape.com, the business set up to drive new visitors to Britain's rivers, lakes and canals.
Wholly-owned by British Waterways and working in partnership with The Environment Agency, the Broads Authority and other navigation authorities, Waterscape.com is to launch in late June and will take a leading role in promoting all UK waterways through a major marketing push.
Simon Parker, managing director of Waterscape said: “Today’s waterways are a national asset and deserve to be treated as an appealing tourism and leisure attraction – just as for any geographical area of the country. Over half of the population lives within just five miles of a river or canal, and with over 3,000 miles of inland waterways in the UK there is an amazing amount to be experienced that many people simply don’t know about.”
The Waterscape.com website aims to provide an inspirational source of information for everything related to the enjoyment of inland waterways: route planners will help people plan a boat trip, walk or cycle ride; comprehensive listings for holiday hire boats and waterside holiday cottages will include the facility for online booking; and information on pubs and restaurants will help take the guesswork out of eating and drinking by the waterside. In addition, Waterscape.com will include online waterway guides with information on visitor attractions, local history and wildlife and much, much more.
Added Parker: “Waterscape.com aims to open up new opportunities to waterway businesses to reach a bigger market of new, well-informed consumers.”
