Lake experts from all over the world will be heading for the Norfolk and Suffolk Broads later this summer.
This year's Living Lakes Conference is to be hosted by the Broads Authority and the practical conservation charity BTCV from September 7th to 12th. Speakers will include Waterway Minister Alun Michael and Professor David Bellamy, vice president of BTCV.
About 150 delegates from 25 countries are expected to attend the conference at the University of East Anglia, including representatives from Lake Baikal, the Pantanal, Lake Victoria, and of course, the Broads. The visitors will enjoy experiences including sailing aboard a historic wherry, canoeing, and a trip on the Broads Authority's solar-powered boat.
Dr John Packman, Chief Executive of the Broads Authority, said: "It is a wonderful accolade for The Broads to be hosting such an influential conference. It will be an opportunity for us to share our problems and successes with partners from other continents."
