One of the three official residences of The Queen, Windsor Castle occupies a site a short distance from the Thames that was first developed by William The Conqueror nine centuries ago. Today this internationally-famous building is the world's largest inhabited castle.

The Castle is open all the year round, subject to official engagements, although the lavishly decorated semi state rooms may only be visited during September to March.
