Boating in Cheshire
Cheshire offers the boater a variety of waterway experiences.
Relax along the lock-free Bridgewater Canal, take a trip through the incredible Anderton Boat Lift from the Trent & Mersey Canal or revel in the tranquillity of a cruise along the Shropshire Union Canal, where the peace of the countryside is only broken by birdsong. The Macclesfield Canal is memorable for its elegant turnover bridges and the Peak Forest Canal, nearby, is without a doubt one of the most beautiful canals in the UK.
Should you fancy a break from being behind the tiller, stop off at the National Waterways Museum at Ellesmere Port (visitor moorings are available - call ahead on 0151 355 5017).
