Macclesfield

The town of Macclesfield enjoys a scenic location in the heart of Cheshire.

As the canals grew throughout the industrial revolution, so did Macclesfield with its silk trade (and eponymous canal). Today, the town holds on to its past, being home to Georgian inns, houses and mills which blend in well with newer, more contemporary buildings in the town.

Take a walk around Macclesfield
Macclesfield residents can make walking by the canal a favoured part of their daily lives. Just a short stroll along the towpath will take you close by school, the station and the hustle and bustle of the centre. Keen walkers can put their best foot forward with the Cheshire Ring Canal Walk, perhaps stopping for a well-earned rest in the waterside Fool's Nook Inn, just south of Macclesfield.

Hop in the car and a short drive later you’ll find yourself in the ruggedly beautiful Peak District. Britain’s first national park offers a wealth of walking, cycling, climbing and caving opportunities – perfect for any family day out.
