Middlewich
At the junction of the Trent & Mersey Canal and the Shropshire Union Canal, Middlewich is in the heart of Cheshire.
In the summer months, Middlewich’s residents share their town with visitors from around the globe who flock here to see the famous Boat & Folk Festival. Most of the time, however, Middlewich is a restful town. Locals spend leisurely weekends walking along the canals, discovering the hidden wildlife the town has to offer. Both canals in Middlewich are of interest to nature-lovers; the 'Shroppie' plays host to kingfishers and herons, and otters make their homes along the Trent & Mersey.
After a morning of wildlife watching, head to one of Middlewich’s welcoming waterside pubs. The Kings Lock Inn serves real ale and boasts a popular canalside garden.
