Lion Salt Works

It was in 1842 that the Thompson family established their business of producing various salts in Marston. The Lion Salt Works closed in 1986 and was saved from demolition by the Vale Royal Borough Council in the same year.
The site is currently being developed so that it will become a fascinating working industrial museum, which will demonstrate to visitors the methods of producing salt.
