Being at the centre of the salt industry for over 2000, Chesire is still one of the few places to still produce salt on a large scale in Britain and is home to the Salt Museum. When visiting the Northwich museum, people can learn about the working conditions and history of the salt industry through a variety of videos, photographs, paintings and traditional working tools. Visitors also have the opportunity to touch some of the tools as they are not behind glass, so you can see what it was like to use them. You will also be able to discover the story of those that have lived and worked alongside the River weaver.

The museum offers free parking, a coffee shop and gift shop, toilets and baby changing facilities. There is wheelchair access to the ground floor, coffee shop and temporary exhibition gallery. It is hoped that a lift will soon be installed to the first floor.
