Bollington Discovery Centre

Located alongside the canal at Clarence Mill, the Bollington Discovery Centre tells the story of Macclesfield and how the Macclesfield Canal contributed to the town’s success.

Through a range of interesting displays, guided walks and an extensive gallery of unique photos, Bollington Discovery Centre charts the history of this great mill and the Macclesfield Canal. Visitors can learn how Macclesfield transformed itself from a quiet farming village to a thriving cotton-producing town, utilising its many rivers and streams to gain its position at the top of the textile industry.

Opening times: 11am – 4pm Sat and Sun, 1.30pm – 4pm Wed.
