Stagshaw Garden, owned by the National Trust, was the creation of the late Cubby Acland who worked as regional agent for the Trust until his retirement in 1973.
The garden covers a total eight acres and includes a magnificent array of exotic trees, shrubs and flowers, including rhododendrons, azaleas, magnolias and camellias.
There are some splendid views across Lake Windermere from the garden, and visitors will find steep slopes and a few small waterfalls as they walk through.
Next to the garden is Skelghyll Woods where you can enjoy some relaxing walks.
