Troutbeck is located between Windermere and Ambleside, next to the scenic Lake Windermere. It is a designated Conservation Area and many of the buildings date back to the 17th century.
Many buildings in Troutbeck are found to be centred around springs or wells and bordered by dry-stone walls.
One of the oldest buildings in the village is Townend, at the southern end. It is a wonderful example of Lakeland architecture, with tall chimneys, a slate roof and lime rendered stonework.
Taking a walk is a must, as discovering many of its footpaths generally result in some thrilling views.
Troutbeck Park was once owned by the writer, Beatrix Potter.
