The National Trust also own almost the whole of the head of Wasdale, which is described as one of the most impressive valleys in the district. When people visit the Lake District, Wasdale is one of the main places that they will go to rock climb. There is only one place to stay at there, at the hotel located at the top of the valley where visitors will also find a campsite and a small shop.
A relaxing and beautiful valley, Dudden has very few inhabitants and just one village, Seathwaite. The Trust takes care of almost 7400 acres and nine farms that make up the Dudden Valley. Visitors can camp at the farm just up the road from the village pub. The River Dudden runs through the valley and, like Wasdale, Dudden offers visitors the opportunity to rock climb.
The valley of Eskdale is similar to Dudden, in that it is quiet and peaceful and offers visitors some charming walks along the river. Some of the walks take visitors up to Scaffel Pike, England's highest mountain, which is also cared for by the National Trust. There is no road but the walk has its merits as you will be greeted at the top by some incredible scenery.
