The Tees Barrage has to top any list of places to go in county Durham. If it's on water, you can do it here: windsurfing, water-skiing, sailing, rowing, angling - even powerboat racing and white water rafting. For a more relaxed day out, head for one of the stately homes, gardens and National Trust properties nearby.
