Resting on the banks of the River Stort is Parndon Mill, a hub of creative activity that was long considered to be one of Essex’s best kept secrets.
The four-story mill and outbuildings were restored in the sixties by the artists and craftsmen who lived there, and now it provides studios and workshops as well as accommodation for craftsmen, designers and architects alike.
All year round, the gallery on the ground floor exhibits fine arts and crafts from artists that use a variety of different mediums. They express themselves through paint and etching, sculpture, glass and ceramic work, and jewellery-making.
Parndon Mill runs a series of eight exhibitions per year, each lasting around 6 weeks and the works are always of a high standard, selected from the artists who live and work within a 40 mile radius.
