There is no shortage of beauty spots along the picturesque River Wye. However, the spectacular viewpoint gained from some 500 feet above sea level makes Symonds Yat Rock worthy of a special mention.

The limestone outcrop juts out above a deeply wooded gorge just beyond a horseshoe shaped bend in the river. In summer months its dense woods are a haven for bird-watchers eager to spot a Peregrine Falcon, spring and autumn see the woodland foliage at its most colourful and the alpine scene of snow-capped trees makes Symonds Yat popular throughout the coldest winter months.

However, should this magnificent scenery leave the youngest members of your family somewhat underwhelmed, a trip to the adventure playground at the Symonds Yat West Leisure Park will put a smile back on their faces. Riverboat cruises provide a further spot of excitement on the rapids before taking in the idyllic 14th century church of St Dubricius with its 300 year-old tulip tree.
