Tranquil garden sloping down to the picturesque River Wye.

As the River Wye winds its' tranquil course east to Hereford, a whole host of beauty spots unfold before the walker, the cyclist and the casual passer-by. A deep bend near Canon Bridge is a particular favourite. Here, people pause to watch the salmon leap and here, the Parr family created their unusual garden in the 1920s.

The Weir is an informal garden of ancient beech trees and shrubs which line the criss-crossing paths leading up from the river to the Victorian villa (now a nursing home). Daffodils, bluebells and rose of Sharon take their turn to bloom among the grassy slopes while yew, holly and laurel bushes provide shelter for more fragile species. Panoramic views extend westwards over the Wye to the Black Mountains and on a clear day, the far off peaks of the Breacon Beacons can be glimpsed beyond.
